If It Were Not Impossible,

What Would You Do?

If you had never been told, "You can't do that", what might you have accomplished thus far?

Albert Einstein said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge".

Can you remember, anytime when you were a small child, when you ran up to someone and said

- "I'm gonna be a (fill in the blank)", or,

- "I want to (fill in that blank)", or

- "Look, that's a (fill in the blank)",

just to be met with the response,

- "No, that can't be done", or

- "You can't do that", or

- "NO, that's NOT a (fill in the blank), THAT's a (fill in the blank)"?

If you had never been told

you can't

it's not

that's not correct

what would you have done/been/said/shared by now?

Death and Dying - Not for the Faint of Heart

This will not be an easy post to read - but if you've been here, you already know that and will recognize what you read.

On Thursday, August 6, 1998, my son was on his way home from work, to see his wife and two children, Tracy, Justine, and little SammyJayd. As he came over the familiar rise that is the overpass for the freeway near his home, as he "sped" over the overpass on his scooter, an illegal immigrant, not minding his way, not caring, not watching, pulled onto the entrance ramp for the freeway, and catapulted my son off of the scooter, at least 15 feet in the air, and Matthew landed on his chin.

Helmet or not - and please note, I did not say he did or did not wear a helmet - this injury would NOT have been prevented by the wearing of a helment - and I highly resent the newspaper article that did NOT talk about my son, but used the opportunity to "suggest" that a helmet may have kept him alive.

Nothing would have kept him alive, except life-support.

It was Sammy Jayd's first birthday, and Matthew - my Son, the Artist - (Tracy, I hope you still have his artwork!) - had a cake for her.....chocolate, with chocolate icing, decorated by him, in the back of the 'frige. Tracey kept Matthew on life support for a full day so that SammyJayd's birthday would not be her Daddy's death day. Cudos to Tracy, for her foresight and strength - I never once doubted nor misunderstood what you two meant to each other. (Hell, all anybody had to DO was look at Sammy and see E.X.A.C.T.L.Y. how you felt about each other! :)

One year later, plus one month, while being babysat, Samantha Jayd Amstutz, went to the balcony's edge and, since no adults were on the patio, climbed upon a picnic table bench.... ... ... what is the dot morse code for S.O.S.?

... ... ... she went over the side and did not recover from her injuries.

Her Pahpaw said it best: "...I saw her like this bud (as he held up a rosebud)", and, I don't know if I can quote him from here on, but I really think he would agree with what I heard... (Cletus, if you see this post and want it removed, I will do that - just let me know).

But, he said something like, we watched her, knowing the bloom that would open but not knowing when, and we were anxious - fore we knew that, if the seed was this glorious, the blooming of that virginity is what knights fight for, and Daddy's would kill to protect.

And that, we shouldn't be greedy and ungrateful because the bloom didn't open - but be grateful for having gotten to share the bud. Cudos.....CUDOS???????? What DO I say to the Man and Woman that raised our Son? Thank you is - just ---- not enough.

More to come, heavy enough for today.

May the Spirit of Understanding and Love, that surpasseth ALL understanding (knowledge), shine the Light of The Christ Spirit through you, so that all may See. (can't remember which verse that is! ... it's gettin Old out here!!!

-please forgive any grammer/typos, etc. I'll come back to edit...just a bid hard now!! ;)
